Some 14 drawings by notable Iranian poet and painter Sohrab Sepehri have been put on display at an art gallery in Tehran.

The exhibition, which kicked off on December 28, will run through December 31 at the 4th Bon-gah Art Book Fair in Iran’s Artibition Art Gallery in Tehran.

Initiated in 2018, the Bon-gah Art Book Fair is an annual event of artists’ publications and exhibitions.

The fair serves as “a meeting place for an extended community of publishers, artists and book enthusiasts, as well as a site for dialogue and exchange around all facets of art publishing.”

The fair also hosts a diverse range of talks, discussions, exhibitions and workshops.

Born in 1928, Sepehri, who is known for his pure style of blank verse in what is known as Sher-e No (Modern Poetry) in Iran, departed life in 1980.

Sepehri came to prominence with the publication of his collection ‘The Water’s Footfall’ in 1965.

His works have been translated into many languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Swedish, Arabic, Turkish and Russian.

His paintings have been the most expensive works sold at the Tehran Auction over the past few years.
